Homebound Delivery

For Somers Residents Unable to Come to the Library Due to a Permanent Condition

Our delivery program brings library materials to homebound residents of Somers each month. Library staff selects books and other materials according to the preferences of the homebound library users. To be eligible for this service you must be a Somers resident unable to come to the library due to a permanent condition. For example, you are no longer able to drive, have mobility problems, or require extended bed rest. You may remain in the program for as long as you need the service. Would you like to become a Homebound Services Volunteer?

Volunteers visit individual homes once a month. Volunteers will pick up pre-selected materials at the library, deliver them to the homebound person, and return items that are due. With just a few hours of time, volunteers p

Somers Library Gallery Exhibit Policy

Those interested in showing artwork, please read the following policies carefully.

As an educational and cultural institution, the Somers Library Board of Trustees, Library Director and staff welcome exhibitors (artists and photographers) who have selected the Somers Library as a place in which to exhibit their works. The Somers Library Gallery Policy governs the use of the Library Gallery area, which consists of the Program Room and the hallway leading to it. Works may not be displayed in any other areas of the Library. All exhibits must be open to the public and no admission fees may be charged.

Books for Summer Loan may be charged out for the entire summer.  Summer Loan books must be returned by September 6, 2025. Patrons may check out a maximum of 7 older fiction and/or non-fiction books.

Exceptions: Books belonging to other libraries, 14-Day books, books from the Summer Reading list, Travel books, Magazines and AV materials may not be checked out for Summer Loan.

Library Policies

The trustees shall provide a written statement of policy for the library. The statement of policy shall be available to the public at the library. The library director shall administer the statement of policy and all other policies of the trustees fairly and equitably to all persons.
Supervision of Children

Per the Library Code of Conduct adopted by the Library Board of Trustees no person shall leave children under the age of ten unsupervised. Parents and other caretakers are expected to look after their children while visiting the library. If a child under the age of 10 years old is left in the Library, Library staff will notify the police.

Books currently on reserve for other patrons cannot be renewed. One renewal allowed for all materials owned by Westchester Library System libraries (WLS)., Loans from outside WLS—4 week loan, no renewals.

*Video games MUST be returned to Somers Library. Otherwise, there is a $2 fine.

**Museum Passes – A fine of $10 will be charged for each day the pass is late. There is a fine of $30 if the pass is returned in the book drop or to another library. The full cost of the pass will be charged to the cardholder if the pass is lost. The cost of each pass varies and can be as high as $500. your own computer or mobile device, inside or outside the library. Use one of the following options.

Cake Pans: Patrons may select from a wide variety of Wilton brand cake pans (mostly for children's birthday parties) or for your special occasion. Cake pans must be returned in clean condition to the Somers Library. The library has recently added the following kits: cookie cutter (weddings, birthdays, holidays), knitting, crochet, bongo drums, ukeleles, birdwatching, astronomy, gardening, and scrapbooking.
